Why do we have a neighborhood association?
Charitable, Educational and Cultural Purposes:
Colonial Hills Neighborhood Association, Inc. (CHNA) is a voluntary association of
individuals the purposes of which, as set forth in the articles of incorporation, are exclusively
charitable, education and cultural within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The purposes of the Corporation shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:
- To foster a sense of community among the residents of Colonial Hills and the city
of East Point and heighten awareness of issues affecting the same through
education and communication.
- To engage in non-partisan, non-political activities that foster communication and
civic pride among residents of Colonial Hills and the citizens of East Point
- To perform all other acts necessary or incidental to the above and to do whatever
is deemed necessary, useful, advisable, or conducive, directly or indirectly, to
carry out any of the purposes of the Corporation, as set forth in the articles of
incorporation and these bylaws, including the exercise of all other power and
authority enjoyed by the Corporation generally by virtue of the provisions of the
Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code (subject to and within the limitations of
Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code).
What are the benefits of membership?

1st time resident members receive a CHNA welcome package including a flag and other items
- Only members can vote on Association issues and officer/board elections
- Members-only movie night socials
- Members-only December party
What is the cost of membership?
Just $25 per calendar year per household and $10 for the new membership flag. All yearly renewals will be $25. These dues allow up to 2 votes for permanent adult residents or owners. Seniors age 65 and older receive a complimentary membership, but does not include the $10 flag purchase. Other residents having trouble with the membership cost may contact the Board to apply for an earned membership where one could volunteer a small amount of time to gain membership.
Are the dues tax deductible?
Yes! As a nonprofit corporation, your dues for membership are tax deductible (not prior to April, 2006). The $10 flag purchase is not deductible.
Is there an "Associate" membership?
Yes. "Friends of Colonial Hills" can stay involved for just $15 per calendar year per person. Friends receive the "friends packet" and receive all regular notices.
